2023 Roma's Vineyard Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley, CA ($64/Bottle)
Tasting Notes
Light to medium ruby with garnet highlights, this wine smells of dried herbs, raspberries, red apple skin and citrus peel. In the mouth juicy red currant, sour cherry, pomegranate and raspberry flavors are shot through with dried herbs, a hint of sawdust, and citrus peel. Faint gauzy tannins add texture and a hint of brown sugar lingers in the finish along with dried herbs. Wonderfully balanced, with great verve. (Alder Yarrow, Vinography.com)
About This Release
The 2023 Roma’s Vineyard Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley is a striking expression of one of California’s most acclaimed cool-climate regions. Elegant and refined, this wine is vibrant and expressive in its youth, yet structured to age gracefully for the next 10+ years.
The 2023 growing season in Anderson Valley delivered exceptional conditions for Pinot Noir. A cool spring and late budbreak delayed the start of the season, but steady summer warmth and extended autumn sunshine allowed the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly. The result was pristine clusters with concentrated flavor, lively acidity, and remarkable balance—hallmarks of this distinctive appellation.
This wine captures the essence of Roma’s Vineyard: lifted aromatics, pure red fruit, and layers of spice and minerality framed by natural elegance and freshness. The interplay of warm days and cool nights preserved brilliant acidity, giving structure and vibrancy to the supple fruit.
The 2023 Roma’s Vineyard Pinot Noir is approachable now yet built for longevity—a compelling example of the nuance, depth, and energy that define Anderson Valley, high elevation Pinot Noir.
